Student Employment programs

  • Student Employment is designed to provide students with financial assistance.
  • Students may work up to 15 hours per week.
  • Student wages will be at least the minimum wage for the location in which they work.
  • Students may only work during non-scheduled class time. (ie. Biology Lab is on schedule Mon. - Fri. 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Student is not allowed to work from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Mon - Fri)
  • All Student Employment is considered part-time, and therefore students are not eligible for any benefits.

Two different funding sources for Student Employment:

Federal Work-Study:

  • The funds for this program are provided directly to Park University by the Department of Education.
  • Student eligibility for this program is determined by the FAFSA [Free Application for Federal Student Aid].
  • Students need to complete the FAFSA as early as possible. (The FAFSA will be available in October of the previous year).
  • Students are awarded Federal Work-Study dollars based on the SAI[Student Aid Index] and the date the FAFSA was completed.

Park Student Worker Program:

  • The funds for this program are provided by Park University.
  • Students will need to review the policy and procedure for the Park Student Worker Program.
ALL US citizens must complete a FAFSA and may be eligible for Federal funding.

Park University students are encouraged to apply for the Federal Work-Study program. Federal Work-Study will be awarded on a first come first serve basis to students who demonstrate financial need. The students will also need to demonstrate professional competency to the supervisor who is hiring them and maintain that competency (details on this are given to students during the hiring process).

Need: The financial need of a student is defined as their personalized cost of attendance (the cost of attendance as defined by the institutional pre-determined cost entered into their student account) less EFC, less any and all financial aid, grants, loans or monies paid on the student's behalf (federal or otherwise). Note: Federal Unsubsidized, Parent Plus loans, or private loans may replace EFC in the calculation.

Academic Competency: To remain in the program students must maintain at least a 2.0 or higher GPA.

Resident Hall Assistant Grant: Students who are receiving this scholarship are not eligible.

Process to Apply:
1) Student has completed their FAFSA. FAFSA must be clear of all flags and verification must be complete. Must have an EFC of 10,000 or less to continue with the process.

2) All student employment positions are posted on the main page of the Student Employment Section of my.park.edu Complete the application on each of the job description pages. Then your information will be reviewed for funding eligibility.

Note:  You must obtain your Social Security card prior to the first day of work, no exceptions.

Note: Federal Work-Study funding contains a limited number of awards; eligibility is not guaranteed until awarded. Once Park University has exhausted funding no further awards will be granted.
F1-VISA students are only eligible for the Park Student Worker Program.
US students who have no federal eligibility may be eligible for the PSWP.

The Park Student Worker Program [PSWP] is funded by Park University, and will be awarded to students who do not qualify for Federal Work-Study and demonstrates professional competency to the supervisor.  This allows supervisors to hire the best candidate for their position.

Academic Competency: A student who has demonstrated academic competency has completed their first semester at Park University and has maintained a 2.0 GPA prior to entering the Park Student Worker Program. To remain in the program students must maintain at least a 2.0 or higher GPA.
